The distance between Sapa and Hanoi is 380 km. In the past, it took around 6 to 8 hours to travel by bus, which made the journey time slightly shorter. If you visit Sapa with your family or a group of friends, taking the train is the most suitable option. Currently, there are no railways from Hanoi directly to Sapa so tourists will have to stop at Lao Cai Station, then travel by bike or bus to get to Sapa. Train is the safest way to get to Sapa but it takes 6 or 7 hours to visit there. Each day, there are very few trains to Lao Cai Station so you need to arrange your time to catch it.
Moving from Hanoi to Sapa by motorbike is perfect for those who are keen on enjoying the thrill of travelling on the mountain roads. When travelling by motorbike, you can stop anywhere along the way to take pictures as well as enjoy the scenery.
